6 Biggest Beauty Trends of the Summer
Several trends are staying on the radar this spring well into the summer. Subtle is not a word that describes these innovative, refreshing looks for the summer. From unicorn snot to two-tone looks, these trends are vibrant and will get you ready for the summer vacations and party life.
1. Glossy Summer Flush
This trend has rolled well over into 2023 as well as the spring into the summer. It can be achieved by mattifying those “shiny” zones then touching your cheekbones upwardly with a shiny highlighter over the blush. This creates a glossy blush effect known to make your skin pop vibrantly. Best blushes to achieve with this look? Charlotte Tilbury’s Cheek to Chic Blush has crushed pearls to give your blush an added highlighter effect. Fenty by Rihanna’s Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush is great for every tone for the perfect summer blush look.
2. Underpainting
This amazing trend was created by celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips and it went viral as soon as created. The technique is basically using makeup only where it is needed. It gives you that glow and boost without looking like you are wearing a bunch of makeup. This look can be achieved by drawing your contour and blush underneath your foundation using the spot correcting technique. A great find is Danessa Myricks Beauty Balm Contour because it is creamy, buildable, and perfect for darker skin tones.
3. Startling Red
Red lipstick has become a staple for makeup looks whether you have a full face or nothing on. Wearing the unexpected red with or without makeup will become a true staple this summer. The viral trend of bare face (completely) with a pop of red has changed the game from the trip to the supermarket to the runway. The two best reds right now are Fenty’s “The MVP” Liquid Lipstick that is universal for all tones and Patrick Ta’s “That’s Why She’s Late” Matte Suede Lipstick.
4. Two-Toned Babe
This trend has been a staple of mine for the last 3 years and it’s finally here! The summer runway of 2023 will be sporting this look a lot. You can achieve the two-toned lipstick look by applying one color to the top lip then another monochromatic shade to the bottom. If you want to risk it all, you can add colors of the opposite color spectrum to turn some heads! To get a seamless look, use Beauty Bakerie’s Lip Whips! They will not budge no matter what you do so this bomb trend won’t get messed up by any means!
5. Fresh, Healthy Skin
I know for some of you, you already had bare skin. But having that beautiful, dewy glow can only be achieved by a great skin regime. It is amazing that the makeup world built around enhanced beauty is embracing natural ways in 2023. For the summer, you can achieve this glow by using Good Molecules or The Ordinary products. They have various serums that help naturally plump your skin and give you a natural glow. If you want an enhanced glow, Summer Fridays has a skin tint infused with hyaluronic acid and squalene to seal in moisture.
6. Pastel Vibes
This 2017 trend is coming back this year hotter than ever before! Even though its spring colors, it has been accepted into the summer era of the makeup world. The vibrant but soft blues, lilacs, and pinks give a pop of color to any look. The key is to blend with a dense fluffy brush to give an ombre effect. I recommend using the Huda Beauty Pastel Collection with plenty of colors to choose from!
